Building A Bridge of Love Diocesan Fostership Programme Church of South India - Diocese of Madras Every child has the right to food, health and education. Yet, millions of children in our land are deprived of these basic needs that leave a scar in their tender lives. Children suffer most due to poverty.

God has special concern for Today's Child and calls His people to come and care for the little ones. We must be aware of their needs and discern how God would have us respond.

2. Changing Children’s Lives

The Madras Diocese, involved in multifarious activities, has come forward to educate these children, for education is the key to promote life. The Diocese has used this key to open the door for 2, 300 children to give them a future, through 19 homes managed by the Board of Hostels.

So far the educational programme through hostels has been supported by different international child organisations. But due to changing global economic scenario, this support has been greatly reduced and in some cases fully stopped. However the cry of the needy children remains the same, their need for education and hostel facilities are on the increase.

To fulfil the need the Madras Diocese has come forward with an innovative Diocesan Fostership Programme specially designed to help them through resources from within the Diocese This programme would...

• Identify donors who would join hands with the Madras Diocesan Board of Hostels in meeting the needs of the Children.

• Give an oppourtunity to share an exceptional bond love by praying for the child, visiting in their hostel and exchanging letters and gifts.

• Provide through education, self dignity, a bright future and transformation of life in a less fortunate child.

3. Acting in Faith as a Foster Parent

• You will receive a picture and a write-up of your child.

• You can get to know your child personally through exchange of letters and visits to her / his home.

• You would receive periodical updates of your child.

• You will receive the joy of transforming a child's life, endorsed by a deep gratitude of that child.

4. Somewhere a child awaits desperately for your help

If only you care, today's needy child will become tomorrow's useful citizen.

Your fostership will help the child to move from poverty to self-sufficiency; from dependence to independence; from ignorance to understanding.

Your Fostership for a period of 7 years would enable your child to complete Higher Secondary Education.
