About us
The C.S.I. Kalyani Multi Specialty Hospital, a constitutient unit of the Church of South India, Madras Diocese is situated on the prestigious Dr.Radhakrishnan Salai, in the capital city of Chennai (Madras), TamilNadu. This hospital is one of the oldest and popular voluntary health organizations in the city of Chennai started as a small hospital with 24 beds for women and children by the Methodist missionary society in 1909. During the past 100 years, under the inspiring leadership of Medical Missionaries like Dr.Mary Walkins (nee's proudlove) and successive Medical and Nursing Superintendents, the hospital established itself as an excellent Multi Specialty Hospital and also a teaching and research centre. We offer training opportunities to all regardless of any social background, belief and economic means.
Profile
CSI Kalyani Multi Specialty hospital, School of nursing was established in the year 1955, to impart education in general nursing and midwifery. The program remained suspended from 1977-1987andhas been successfully restarted from the year 1987 .We focus to educate nurses on Christian ideology in preventive, promotive and rehabilitative holistic health care to individual and family in the hospital and community with compassion, concern and commitment.

Infrastructure & laboratory facilities
The required facilities for the school of nursing including the laboratories, (FON, Community, Nutrition, OBG and other rooms) have been procured and set in the School of nursing. Separate Library & Computer lab is provided. in the adjacent building of the Academic Block

Two Swaraj Mazda, each 22 seated vehicle is provided for the nursing students for transporting to affiliating Hospitals and also for the Community Programmes |
Hospital (Parental / Affiliated)

C. S. I. Kalyani Multi Specialty Hospital with 220 beds has all specialties with advanced technologies,. Over 1 Lakh patients visits the hospital every year from all parts of the city. The hospital has been recognised by the state government as referral hospital for the purpose of treatment.
The Hospital undertakes to provide medical facilities to Central Government Employees covered CGHS (Central Government Health Scheme). Thus the Nursing School will have the back up and clinical support of a reputed Multi Specialty Hospital in the premises. The nursing students will have the unique opportunity of knowing all the nursing procedures and the latest Medical technologies in the hospital

Manampathi at Chengalpet has been adopted as rural area by the school and hospital weekly visits are conducted by doctor and students every Thursday.
For urban postings the students gain experience in Kalyani Health Post, Krishnampet health post, Royapet health post. |
Hostel facilities
ACCOMMODATION
 |
Hostel accommodation for the students is provided near by the school of nursing building. Double room, dormitory, reading room, visitor's room, store room facilities, attached toilets, bathrooms and washing areas are provided. Indoor games facility and playground for out door games available for the students. Furniture's are provided for each student for the comfort stay. |
MESS
The dining hall and kitchen is separate behind the student nurses hostel which is spacious and seating is provided for ½ of the total strength. Cooking area, storage and washing facilities are made separate and spacious.
Admission
DIPLOMA IN NURSING AND MIDWIFERY
DURATION
The duration for the diploma course in General Nursing and Midwifery shall be three years and six months.
ELIGIBILITY
- Minimum Education +2 pass with (any Group) 40% of Marks.
- Age 17 to 35 Years unmarried women.
- Student should be medically fit.
MODE OF ADMISSION
By Written Examination & personal interview .The application and prospectus can be obtained from principal Office, School of Nursing by sending Demand Draft for RS.250/- or in person. The completed forms to be sent along with following Xerox copies.

Annual report
CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Annual sports meet is being conducted every year and shield s distributed to the winning team.

Talent week is conducted every year in the month of February the events such as face painting ,fashion show ,rongoli, painting, room decoration, poetry ,debate, mad zap ,mad add ,dancing, singing, essay, etc. for which judges are called from other institutions. |
- Welcome and farewell parties are yearly organized.
- Competitions and debates are organized on all special health days.
LAMP LIGHTING CERMONY

Lamp Lighting Ceremony is organized for fresher's every year after the complication of preliminary period. |
GRADUATION

Graduation ceremony is conducted for the out going batch. |
OUT REACH ACTIVITIES
- Out reach program in Mananpathi every Thursday
- Visiting home for aged every Friday
- Helping in eye camps every week
CHRISTIAN ENDOVER (CE)
Christian endower meeting is being conducted every Tuesday. Regular bible study and fellowship meetings are conducted. Retreats are conducted by the CE. The other activities that are carried out by the CE are distribution of tracts to the patients, conducting Christmas program in the hospital and Manampathi (community area).
STUDENTS NURSES HOSTEL
Student nurses hostel accommodates 150 students under the supervision of Mrs. Potammal(warden) assisted with one house keeper.
ALUMNI NEWS
Alumni reunion is conducted yearly old students are invited and one specific batch is honored every year
Placement
The student's after completion of their course will do their one year bond in our hospital and gain experience after that they are placed in various hospitals like CMC , Life Line , MMM , Etc
