The Department of Christian Tamil Literature is a new department formed by the Diocese of Madras. The main aim of the department is to proclaim the good news to the people through Tamil Christian Literature.

The Important Functions

• To identify and introduce Tamil Christian Scholars and their works to the Tamil people particularly to the Tamil Christians.
• To develop skill on Tamil Literary work and Creativity among the congregation.
• To organise seminars and work shops to the congregation to become scholars of Tamil Literary works such as Dramas, Short Stories and Poems.
• To encourage the congregation to write books in Tamil Language and to honor the Tamil Christian Scholars for their work.
• The Christian Tamil Literature Department plans to give training in Tamil Literature and to conduct competitions on Poetry, Essay writing, Music and Oration. It also plans to organize Drama and Musical troops among school students.
• This Department was started on 29th January 2000. Since inception, three seminars have been conducted at the following places (St. Paul's Higher Secondary School, Chennai; St. Andrews Church Campus, Arakonam and C.S.I Anderson Higher Secondary School, Kanchipuram.) Many hundreds of congregation members and teachers from Madras North, Madras South, Central and Southern Areas of our Diocese actively participated and got benefited. This newly formed department will extend its service more widely in propagating the good news in future.
